CET Seeks Mentors for SQ1 Ignite Entrepreneur Training

January 28, 2016

The Center for Emerging Technologies (CET) is seeking mentors for its recently announced Square One (SQ1) Ignite to its array of training and educational resources for new and early stage entrepreneurs.

The SQ1 Ignite program has been specifically designed to provide a more frequent series of quick-start training modules to help entrepreneurs advance their business ideas, and prepare participants to submit successful applications for the SQ1 Boot Camp, the 10-week, twice-weekly intensive program in the Fall.

“I had been looking for a way to give back to the entrepreneurial community for a long time,” said Quentin Ortega, executive partner at Atomic Revenue and a SQ1 Bootcamp mentor. “CET’s Square One programs select the type of people and ventures I think have real potential. It was time well spent to attend classes and meet with individuals one-on-one. I had a lot of fun. I believe in CET’s work and those it serves.”

Beginning Feb. 23, the free, four-week SQ1 Ignite series will be held on Tuesdays between 5:30 to 8:30 with classes that include direct instruction as well as hands-on application of course content.

Prospective and current mentors are invited to attend Feb. 23, to meet the class participants and learn more about their ventures. Mentors can choose to attend each of the four-week sessions or meet with participants outside of class at a mutually agreeable time. On April 26, the second four-week session will start and provide mentors with a second opportunity to engage with and support participating entrepreneurs. The duration and frequency of involvement is determined by each mentor.

Entrepreneurs with business ideas in the bioscience, consumer/manufactured product and IT industries are encouraged to apply for the SQ1 Ignite series, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
